Selkirk Mechanical Handling Ltd Proud Sponsors of the Ferriby 10 (2026)

We’re delighted to announce that Selkirk Mechanical Handling Ltd are proud to be the 2026 sponsors of the Ferriby 10. Their support ensures this historic race continues to thrive and remain one of the most celebrated running events in East Yorkshire.

The Ferriby 10: A Proud Tradition Since 1954

The Ferriby 10 is more than just a race—it’s a piece of East Yorkshire running history. Founded in 1954 by the City of Hull Athletic Club, this iconic event has stood the test of time. Today, the club still proudly hosts the race, and in 2025 we celebrate its 71st year.

Over the decades, the Ferriby 10 has seen three different courses, each introduced for various reasons. Yet, the original name has remained, a testament to its roots in Ferriby, where the race began and thrived for many years. The route now winds through the stunning Yorkshire Wolds, passing through picturesque East Yorkshire villages—a true runner’s delight.

A Race That Captures Hearts

The Ferriby 10 is one of the most anticipated events in the North, attracting 1,000 runners each year. Its popularity is undeniable—this year’s race sold out in just 22 minutes! That’s how much runners value the challenge and charm of this historic event.

Records That Inspire

The all-time record belongs to none other than Sir Brendan Foster, who stormed the course in 1980 with a jaw-dropping time of 48:01. He was using the race as “training,” yet he devastated the field. That record has never been beaten. In a quirky twist, Foster didn’t even claim his prize money—he entered late!

On the current course, the men’s record is held by Kris Lecher, a local legend and proud member of City of Hull AC. The women’s record was broken last year by Becky Briggs, a talented local runner who represents Great Britain. With a generous prize bonus for breaking the record, there’s always the chance that a determined runner could leave not only with glory but a little extra cash!

More Than a Race

For City of Hull AC, the Ferriby 10 is a symbol of tradition, community, and excellence. It remains a highlight of the year for runners across the North—a race that combines history, challenge, and camaraderie.
